Margaret M O'Neill

Margaret M. O’Neill, age 100, of St. Charles, Missouri (formerly of Novi, Michigan) was born on August 16, 1915 and passed away, peacefully on June 15, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late William O’Neill and loving mother of Stephen (Susan) O’Neill of Michigan, and Mary (Donald) Boatright of Missouri. Cherished grandmother of 7; Steven (Sarah) Boatright , Susan (Aaron) Kottmann, Scott Boatright, Jennifer (Harry) Gruits, Emily (Todd) Herman, Jeffrey O’Neill and Kimberly O’Neill. Great-Grandmother of 11; Henry and Sally Boatright, Paige, Emma and Sophie Kottmann, Sarah Becker, Madeleine and James Gruits, Benjamin and Jacob Herman and another on the way. She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Grant David Kottmann. She was also, predeceased by her parents, Mary and Anthony Eggert and sister, Dorothy (William) Reid. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Upon high school graduation, Margaret attended Nursing School and graduated from St. Joseph Hospital in Detroit, Michigan with her RN degree. She spent her career working as a nurse, retiring at age 67. Margaret was a veteran of WWII where she served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps from 1943-1946. She was also a volunteer with Hospice, the St. Vincent Sarah Fischer Home for Children, and with the Christian Service Commission Margaret met her late husband, William T. O’Neill, overseas, while serving in the war, and upon their return, were married. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, reading and playing handbells at Mass, throughout her lifetime. The funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1355 Motherhead Road, Cottleville, Missouri at 10:30 a.m. She will lie In State 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass on Tuesday. A graveside service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield, MI 48033, on Friday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m. Those wishing to attend should arrive at the main gate between 10-10:30 a.m. for the processional. Missouri arrangements are being handled by Stygar Mid Rivers Funeral Home in St. Charles, Missouri. Michigan arrangements are being handled by O’Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home in Novi, Michigan.
