Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Laybourn on November 14, 2024 at the age of 92. Margaret's family immigrated to Detroit from Malta in the 1940s. She was the beloved wife of John Laybourn for 43 wonderful years, sharing a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

A dedicated and loving matriarch, Margaret raised 10 children with grace and strength, leaving a legacy of compassion, resilience, and unwavering family bonds. She was a devoted mother to Dennis (Marie) Diacono, Derrick (Roberta) Diacono, Dewain (Kelly) Diacono, Doreen (Joe) Attard, and Diane (Robert) Rankin. She was also a loving stepmother to Doris Ann (Byron) Stuck, James (Diane) Laybourn, John (LouAnn) Laybourn, Joe Laybourn, and Donald (Marcia) Laybourn. Her boundless love extended to her 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.

Margaret was an avid card player, spending 2-3 days a week enjoying spirited games with friends. Her sharp wit and competitive spirit made her a joy to play with, and she formed countless friendships through her love of cards. Margaret never missed a weekend mass at Holy Family Church, and she always enjoyed cooking and hosting both friends and family at her home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home (41555 Grand River in Novi, Michigan) with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
