Luis Zaleta's Obituary

Luis David Zaleta-Valdez
December 29, 1979 – September 12, 2025

Luis David Zaleta-Valdez, age 45, of Novi, Michigan, passed away on September 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on December 29, 1979, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Jose Luis Zaleta Gonzalez and Minerva Valdez Juarez.

Luis was a man of laughter, kindness, and devotion. He loved music, movies—especially Star Wars—and cherished time with his friends and family. Known for his big smile, protective heart, and loud, joyful presence, he could always be counted on to brighten the room with a joke or lend a hand to anyone in need.

In 2004, Luis met the love of his life, Ana Romero, and the two married in 2006. That same year, he moved to Michigan to begin a new chapter with Ana in the United States. Luis was proud not only to build a family in his new home, but also to create a "chosen family" of close friends, both in Michigan and back in Mexico.
Luis earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in Mexico before moving to the U.S., where he worked as an Engineering Project Manager. He took immense pride in his work, but his greatest joy was always his family.

A proud father, he delighted in cheering for his son, Fernando, on the soccer field, baseball diamond, and track, and he loved watching his daughter, Daniela, shine in gymnastics and volleyball. His family was his heart, and he dedicated his life to protecting, supporting, and celebrating them.

Luis is survived by his loving wife, Ana; his children, Fernando and Daniela; his parents, Jose Luis Zaleta Gonzalez and Minerva Valdez Juarez; his brother, Jose Zaleta; his sister, Guadalupe Zaleta; his loyal dog, Pop; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless dear friends.

A Funeral Mass honoring Luis' life will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Novi. Visitation will begin at 4:45 pm followed by the Funeral Mass at 5:30 pm.
