Lois Jean Terry (née Welch), born February 2, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Rose E. (McGuire) and Lawrence Welch, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, in Novi, Michigan, at the age of 95.
Lois was the beloved wife of the late T. Leonard Terry and the devoted mother of Jean (Keith) Schinnerer, Elizabeth Terry, and Roseann (Dan) Messina. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Amy and Robert LaBuda, Joseph (Analisa) Glaser, Noah Messina and the late Erin Rose Hall. Grandson-in-law Cameron Hall. She delighted in the joy brought by her great-grandchildren: Magnolia, Clementine, and Kai LaBuda, and Gabe and River Glaser.
A loyal sister and fierce protector, Lois now reunites with her cherished sister, the late Gertrude Welch, husband, Leonard Terry and all of her family that went before her.
Lois graduated from Notre Dame College in Cleveland, Ohio, and carried a lifelong passion for learning and community. She was a masterful and dedicated duplicate bridge player, known for her sharp mind, quick wit, and competitive spirit.
She will be remembered for her deep love of family, her unwavering strength, and her quiet but powerful presence in the lives of all who knew her.
Lois will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church, 46325 Ten Mile Road, Novi, MI. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
In honor of Lois's legacy, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of Michigan.
