Dr. Leonard J. Kaminski
Age 87, May 22, 2015
Dr. Leonard J. Kaminski was a devoted and loving husband to Mary Pat, father to Mary Beth Harris, Colleen (Stephen) Czank and Jim (Lori) Kaminski, and grandfather to Greg Harris, Brad Harris, Clarie Czank and Peter Czank.
Len graduated from the University of Michigan and began his career as a dentist in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed at Clovis Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico as a Captain. Upon his discharge he started his dental practice in Detroit and was blessed to meet the love of his life when a beautiful young patient named Mary Pat Williams came in for a cleaning. A year later they were married.
Len was an avid fan of baseball and coached Babe Ruth for many years, then passed his love of baseball on to his grandson Greg who player throughout high school. A fond memory was during Greg's sophomore year on the St. Mary's team when he was hit in the face by a pitch and his two front teeth were knocked out. Grandpa in the stands ran out onto the field and shoved the teeth back in. Greg's beautiful smile still shows those teeth, thanks to Grandpa.
Len's love for theater never waned. He was an active member of the North Rosedale Park Players in his younger years when living in Detroit. More recently he was a member of the Novi Senior Chorus for over 10 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 390 and could be found outside Busch's selling Poppies. He was a member of the Monaghan Knights of Columbus and was a regular during the Tootsie Roll Drive. He was an avid bridge player, golfer and bowler. His love of bowling was inherited by his son Jim. He always enjoyed Thursday nights as Jim would call to give Dad his bowling scores.
Len and Mary Pat loved to travel and did so extensively. They cruised, toured Europe, Canada, China, and Hawaii but their favorite trip had to be to Germany for the birth of their 3rd grandson Peter.
Len loved his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him as a kind, gentle and caring man someone for all of us to emulate. God bless Len Kaminski.

In state Tuesday at Church of the Holy Family, 24505 Meadowbrook Road, Novi from
10:00 am until time of funeral liturgy at 10:30 am.
