Obituary

Of Novi passed away at the age of 88.
Beloved husband of Beatrice, loving father of Diana ( Brent) Canup and Debra(Zack) Fishman. Predeceased by Bernice who died in 1991 after 51 years of marriage.Loving Grandfather of Brent Jr. (Ginger) Canup & Brenda (Michael) Daray. Great grandfather of Morgan & Margaux Canup and Skylar & Taner Daray. Leo is survived by one sister Laura Wofford and predeceased by 3 brother and 2 sisters Francis, Paul, Everett, Gladys Petri & Nellie.
Leo was a founder and active member of numerous organizations and businesses in Novi and the State of Michigan. He was a WWII veteran and recipient of two Purple Hearts with Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star w/ Arrowhead, and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a life time member of the Disabled American Veterans, Amvets and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Leo served the village of Novi in several capacities including city planning board member, Councilman and Past President Pro-Tem. He was instrumental in making Novi into a city.
Mr. Harrawood was a charter member, director and Past President of the Novi Rotary Club District Governor for Rotary District Number 638. A charter member of the Farmington Elks Lodge, a charter member of St John's Lutheran Church Farmington, Past President of the Novi Chamber of Commerce. Leo served as the illustrious Potentate of the Moslem Temple and was a member of the Walled Lake Masonic Lodge. He was the owner/operator of the Standard Oil/Amoco gas station on Grand River & Novi Road for 44 years. He was also the owner of the BP station at Novi Road and 12 mile. He was the co-owner of Shirley Cash Realty of Novi, Owner Founder of Sales Training Institute of Detroit. Leo was an avid outdoor sportsman, a licensed pilot and successful motivator and sales trainer.
Visitation at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River, Novi, (248) 348-1800, Wednesday 5-9pm Masonic Service Wednesday 7:00pm Thursday 1-9pm
In state at St. John Lutheran Church, 23225 Gill Rd., Farmington Hills Friday 9:00am until he funeral service at 10:00
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
