Obituary

age 94 years passed away October 3, 2009. Larry married Gertrude Mazanet in 1943. He served in the Army as a Corporal in WWII and fought in the European Campaign. He became a Detroit Firefighter in 1946. Larry was a founding member of the Detroit Fire Department Clown Team. The Clown team played a major part in the Annual
Fireman's Field Day and the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade. After retiring in 1974 in Florida, he was a hospital volunteer, a sacristan, loved playing golf, and enjoyed all sporting events.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years and his son, Casper. Always the entertainer, Larry was a devoted family man and is survived by his children Lauren Knudsen (John) from Missoula, MT, Geraldine Prochaska (Joe) from Dexter, MI, Dennis Scarpace (Therese) from West Bloomfield, MI, and Marianne Hay (Curtis) from Walled Lake, MI., His 11
grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home 41555 Grand River Novi 248-348-1800 Thursday 4-9pm with rosary at 7pm. Instate Friday 10am Holy Family Church, 24505 Meadowbrook, Novi until time of funeral liturgy 10:30am. He will be buried at Holy Sepulchre, Southfield.
