Laura H. Gier, age 68, passed away on October 15, 2024. Born on April 24, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late George J. Horeftis and Margaret A. (Willis).
Laura was a devoted wife to Chris for 28 years and a loving mother to Lydia. She is survived by her cherished siblings, Deborah (Bill) Chilman and Bruce (Diane) Horeftis.
A proud Registered Nurse graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy, Laura dedicated over 40 years to nursing within the Henry Ford System and the DMC system. Her compassion and commitment to her patients were evident in every aspect of her work.
As a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, Laura actively contributed to her community by teaching Sunday School and volunteering at the clothes closet. An avid reader and self-taught crocheter, she crafted countless baby quilts and blankets that brought joy to many.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Monday, October 21, 2024, at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI 48375, with a rosary service at 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 24505 Meadowbrook Rd, Novi, MI 48375, with visitation starting at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Holy Family Catholic Church . Laura will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield, MI.
Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
