Obituary

Larry George Wanchik, a loving husband, cherished family member, and talented musician, passed away on July 27, 2024, holding the hand of his beloved wife, Nancy, to whom he was married for 52 and a half years. Larry was born on April 15, 1949, in Detroit, MI, and was the dear son of the late Carolyn (Turcic) and George Wanchik, and son-in-law of the late Robert and Marion Jackman.

Larry's professional journey spanned many years in telecommunications, reflecting his dedication and expertise. Outside of his career, he embraced a wide range of passions including travel, gourmet cooking, fishing, and his love for cats. An accomplished musician, and classical trained pianist, Larry found joy in playing rock 'n' roll, jazz and the blues, and his deep appreciation for art and music was a defining element of his life.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, cherished family, and dear friends who will remember him for his warmth, creativity, and the joy he brought into their lives. A memorial visitation will be held for family and friends to pay their respects on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI 48375. Larry's cremains will be placed at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Donations can be made online to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Larry's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
