Kathleen "Kay" Juliann Swanson

Kathleen "Kay" Juliann Swanson, age 89, of Novi, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. She was born on November 16, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late John L. Reilly and Julia (Rogoza) Reilly.
Kay dedicated her career to serving families as a Pre-need Counselor for funeral homes and cemeteries, guiding others with compassion during some of life's most tender moments. Beyond her work, she was deeply devoted to her family, friends, and community.
She is survived by her loving children: Robert C. Swanson (Kary) of Eva, TN, Michael Swanson (Pam) of Hamburg, MI, Rachelle Swanson (Dale Robb) of Davisburg, MI, Sherry Disler (Erik Disler) of Brighton, MI, Donna Brenton (Brian Brenton) of La Jolla, CA, and Andrea Leon (Michael Leon) of Howell, MI. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Lynette Reilly of Silver Springs, MD, twelve grandchildren, five nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends, and her cherished cat, Hermione.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Helen Pitts; and her brother, Patrick Reilly.
Faith was a guiding force in Kay's life. As a devoted member of Unity of Ann Arbor, she embraced a spiritual path rooted in love, inclusivity, and the recognition of universal truth. Her faith gave her strength, comfort, and joy, and she carried those values into her daily life—always striving to be a source of kindness, encouragement, and light for those around her.
She was also an active member of Toastmasters International, a thriving and diverse global community that enhances the personal lives and careers of individuals, enabling them to positively impact their communities.
She found joy in her garden and treasured the company of her swim buddies, whose longtime friendship brought her great happiness and gratitude.
Kay will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park in Toledo, Ohio, in a private ceremony with her family.
Her warmth, wisdom, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
