Judith Lorraine Petersen was born on September 5, 1936, in Marquette, Michigan to Jennie and Richard Burrows. While attending John D. Pierce High School, she had several poems published by the National High School Poetry Association. She married Lloyd Petersen in 1954 and considered one of her greatest accomplishments the celebration of their 70th anniversary this past September. While raising her family in Roseville, Michigan, Judith worked as a volunteer librarian at her daughters' elementary school and served many years as a Sunday School director. Upon moving to Flushing, she spent 25 years tutoring adult ESL students and Flushing elementary students. Judith was an accomplished seamstress and cook, often hosting dinners for church members, family and friends. She and Lloyd never forgot their Marquette roots and spent several weeks for years at their summer place known as "Papa's Camp" on beautiful Lake Superior. They were also devoted spectators at their granddaughters' soccer games and band activities.
Predeceased by her parents and sister, Julie Benson, Judith is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd, dear sisters Jane Guyott and Marjorie Kamppinen, daughters Jeanne Petersen, Kristine Schultz (Willard), and Marcia Boileau (James), and granddaughters Stephanie Boileau (Don Dunkin), Colette Boileau, Catherine Peterson (Ryan), and Gabrielle Boileau.
