With deep sadness, our family announces the passing of Judith Anne Greenwood (Kehl), on September 29, 2025, at age 80. She passed away at her apartment at Fox Run Senior Living in Novi, Michigan.
Judy is survived by her two children, Troy (spouse Heather) Greenwood of Littleton, Colorado, and Wendy (spouse Jamie) Koebel of Commerce Township, Michigan, and five grandchildren: Avery and Henry Greenwood, Molly, Freddie, and Jack Koebel. She is also survived by a brother, Tim (spouse Rita) Kehl of Milwaukee, WI, and a sister, Connie (spouse John) Hayes of Brentwood, NH.
She was born in Wooster, Ohio November 12, 1944, to Hayward and Florence (Tiefenbruck) Kehl. However, she spent most of her growing up years in Illinois where she graduated from Freeburg High School, Elmhurst College, and the University of Chicago, where she received a master's degree in social work. Judy was married for forty-six years to the former Rev. Rich Greenwood.
As a social worker Judy spent many years serving the needs of students with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. Serving others and caring for people was something important to Judy.
If there is one word that best characterizes Judy, it would be "vibrant." She had a kind and joyful spirit that inspired lively conversations. Judy found joy in many things—she deeply cared for her family, loved reading novels, and often knitted while listening to audiobooks. A passionate gardener, she took great delight in nurturing her plants and gardens. She was also an enthusiastic hiker, always ready to discover a new trail and a friend to share it with. A constant learner, she cherished traveling and seeking adventures in beautiful and fascinating places.
Judy was loving, smart, happy, well-informed, and fun to be around. She was dearly loved by her family, relatives, friends, and many others in her earthly life. And she will be dearly missed as she begins her glorious heavenly life.
