John V. Wickey
Native Detroit resident, John V. Wickey, a retired engineer for the City of Detroit, died December 24, 2014, at age 90. Born in Detroit in 1924, he became dedicated to the city and its historic beauty and value. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1946 from the College of Engineering and worked for the City of Detroit in project management for over 50 years. In 1994, he was awarded the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers Outstanding Engineer Award. A longtime patron of the arts and accomplished artist himself, he served on the board of the Scarab Club and volunteered his talents for many years. He died peacefully on Christmas Eve morning at Botsford Commons Senior Living Center in Farmington Hills. He leaves behind a loving family and friends who long appreciated his kindness, generosity and sage advice. Honoring his request, there will be no formal services.
