John Michael Flanagan
December 3, 1962 – September 6, 2025
John Michael Flanagan, known affectionately as "Mike" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home in Novi, Michigan on September 6, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on December 3, 1962, in Montgomery, Louisiana, John was the beloved son of Martha Neal Flanagan.
Mike was a true outdoorsman who found joy in camping, fishing, target shooting, and capturing the beauty of nature through wildlife photography. He cherished every chance to return to Louisiana, where he maintained strong ties to his roots and delighted in hosting his own fireworks show each Christmas—a tradition that brought family and friends together with laughter and light.
In Michigan, John built a strong work ethic and lasting friendships during his years at Hewert Pack and General Motors. He will be remembered for his steady spirit, his love of the outdoors, and his warm presence that made those around him feel at ease.
John is survived by his cousins Peggy Neal Deen, Stanley Cooley, and Claire Cooley Barnes; and by a host of second cousins, including Brent Deen, Kenneth Barnes, John Deen, Marlene Deen Bass, Denise Hungiville, and Charles Neal. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and devotion to family.
Mike said he "will see everyone on the other side," and his family takes comfort in those words as they celebrate his life and the many ways he touched theirs.
