Obituary

Joan J. Greco, born on August 29, 1939, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Joan was a woman of remarkable warmth, kindness, and curiosity who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Joan took immense pride in her family, especially her cherished children and grandchildren. Her unwavering love and devotion as a mother to Valerie (Jeff) and David (Tiffany) and a grandmother to Avery, Carson, Hayden, Jason, and Ellie were the heart of her life.
Education was another pillar of Joan's life. She proudly earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Detroit in French and master's degree in English from Iona College, exemplifying her lifelong love for learning and intellectual curiosity.

A loving and devoted wife to Carmelo for 57 wonderful years, Joan embraced life's adventures with joy and an open heart. Together, they explored the world, traveled extensively, and shared a passion for skiing. Joan's zest for life was evident in her adventurous spirit and openness to new experiences.
Joan's kindness knew no bounds; she had a huge heart and was always giving, helping others, and radiating positivity. She never harbored negativity, choosing instead to uplift those around her. Her love for music was evident in her beautiful voice, which graced the choir at St. Catharine Catholic Church in New York and St. James Church in Novi, MI.

Throughout her life, Joan embraced a variety of roles with grace and excellence. She was a dedicated French teacher, a meticulous law office manager, and a wonderful homemaker. Creativity flowed through her. Joan also found joy in reading, puzzles, and games, always keeping her mind engaged.
Joan's appreciation for nature and the environment was profound. She had a fondness for birds and always made a conscious effort to protect the environment.

Joan is survived by her beloved children, Valerie (Jeff) and David (Tiffany); her five adored grandchildren, Avery, Carson, Hayden, Jason, and Ellie; and her two siblings, Donald (Sue) and Susan. She is predeceased by her loving parents, Edward and Josephine.

Visitation will be held at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home on February 12, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on February 13, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church in Novi, with continued visitation at 9:00 a.m. and Mass beginning at 9:30 a.m. Following Mass, a Committal Service will be held at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan can be made to the Hospice of Michigan .

Joan J. Greco's legacy of love, kindness, and boundless curiosity will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
