Jeridel Ann Brown, 87, peacefully passed away at her Novi, Michigan home on Tuesday September 3, 2024. She was born in Barnsdall, Oklahoma on February 18, 1937. Jeri graduated in 1955 from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City and attended Central State College before transferring to Pasadena College in California. It was at Pasadena College where she met the love of her life, David, and they were married in December of 1957. Upon graduation, they moved to Kansas City where Jeri began her teaching career. In 1966, the family moved to Michigan where Jeri taught for 11 years at Middlebelt Elementary before becoming a homemaker.
Throughout her life, Jeri volunteered and served in her church by leading Vacation Bible School, teaching Ladies Bible Study and Sunday School classes, conducting children's vocal and bell choirs, coordinating the children's care for WOW Ladies' Bible Study, serving in women's ministries, and was dedicated to helping in the funeral dinner ministry. Dave and Jeri, were members at Detroit First Church of the Nazarene and also Highland Church of the Nazarene, where they taught young married couples classes for years - helping couples with their spiritual and married lives. Jeri was always available, whatever the need, to serve her Lord, at the Nazarene church she attended for over 50 years. She was a current member of Hilltop Nazarene in Northville, MI where you would regularly catch her warm smile, meeting new people, sharing a funny story, or cleaning in the kitchen.
Dave and Jeri were married for 61 years at the time of his passing in 2019. Jeri is survived by her sons Mark (Candace) Brown and Greg (Judy) Brown; grandchildren Kelli (Brandon) Juodikis, Logan (Miranda) Brown, Jacqueline (Zach) Tamez, Benjamin Brown, William Brown, Graham Brown, Tobin Brown, and Elizabeth Brown; great grandchildren Kaia and Brecklyn Juodikis. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Violet Hardy; sisters, Jeannie Steidl and Patty Boyd, and brother Gordon "Bud" Hardy.
Visitation will be at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River, Novi, MI on Friday September 13 from 5-8 pm. There will also be a viewing on Saturday, September 14 at Hilltop Church of the Nazarene, 21260 Haggerty Rd, Northville from 9:45-10:45 am before the Memorial Service at 11:00 am, with luncheon immediately following. There will be no graveside service following the Memorial.
