Jean Collins, of Milford, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, in Howell, Michigan, at the age of 96. She was a longtime resident of Abbey Park in Milford, where she continued to live independently and enjoyed an active life well into her 90s.

Born on July 27, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, Jean was a devoted Catholic, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend to many. She was a proud graduate of St. Gregory’s in Detroit, Michigan, Class of 1949. After high school, Jean worked in data entry at Ex-Cell-O Corporation until she married and began her family. In 1977, she returned to the workforce, joining the Clarenceville School District as a school bus driver. She continued in that role until her retirement in 1993.

Jean was married to her beloved husband, Harold Collins, for more than 62 years before his passing in 2021. Their marriage and family were at the heart of Jean’s life. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren and treasured the many friendships she made throughout her life.

Jean is survived by her three children, Mary Anne Lloyd (Dave), Harold “Hal” Collins (Bridgette), and Barbara Ramey (Doug); and her four grandchildren, Ryan Donovan, Shannon Beaver, Brooke Trudeau, and Lauren Diss. She also leaves behind many lifelong friends and treasured memories shared with family and loved ones. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Collins; her parents, Thomas and Agnes Arthurs; and her siblings, Joseph Arthurs, Thomas Arthurs, Lois Cole, and John “Jack” Arthurs.

Jean lived life with enthusiasm and an adventurous spirit. In her younger years, she enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, and motorcycling. She especially loved spending summers “Up North” at the cabin with close friends and family. She was always up for an adventure and had a wonderful ability to make the best of whatever life brought her way.

In her later years, Jean enjoyed knitting and reading, but one of her greatest passions was golf. A longtime member of Burning Oak/Redwood Golf Course at Higgins Lake, she played several times a week and continued playing golf well into her 90s. Golf was more than a pastime for Jean—it was a source of friendship, family, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Jean was known for being friendly, easygoing, patient, kind, caring, and sweet. She had a remarkable ability to make friends anywhere and anytime and was simply easy and a joy to be around. She was also a natural caretaker, always thinking of others and finding ways to help. It was often the little things she did along the way that made her so special and left such a lasting impression on those who knew her.

Jean often said, “Life is not fair!” Yet she understood how to make the best out of any situation. That resilience, optimism, and practical wisdom became part of the legacy she passed on to her children and grandchildren.

Jean was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in Novi, Michigan, and her Catholic faith remained an important part of her life. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, strong faith, adventurous spirit, independence, kindness, and the many friendships she formed throughout her 96 years.

Jean leaves behind a legacy of love, family, faith, friendship, and a life well lived. Her warmth, patience, humor, and caring nature will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. Twelve Mile Road, Farmington Hills, MI 48334.
