It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jan-Eric Nyberg, 75, of Milford Michigan. After a long and courageous health battle, he went to his eternal home with the Lord on April 28th, 2025.

Eric is survived by his wife Karyn (Walkuski) Nyberg, daughter Tarah (Christopher) Pingston, son Sven-Erik Nyberg, brother Hans (Tina) Nyberg and grandsons Rhys and Tate. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters in laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ragnar and Ulla Nyberg.

Eric was born on May 21st 1949 in Stockholm Sweden. He immigrated to the United States at age 8 with his parents and older brother. He graduated from John Glenn High School in Westland and attended Eastern Michigan University. He was joined in marriage for 53 years with his beloved wife Karyn. They finally settled in Novi Michigan, where they raised their two children. Eric was an entrepreneur, running a business with his brother for many years. At the age of 60, he realized a lifelong dream of becoming a firefighter with the Novi Fire Department and Northville Fire Department.

Eric lived a full life, centered on family, and made many lasting memories. He enjoyed outdoor recreation, particularly cross-country skiing, mountain biking, and fishing. One of Eric's accomplishments of which he was very proud, was building his cottage by himself "Up North" in the town of Indian River. Always generous with his skills and knowledge, Eric was a friend to many. His presence will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the O'Brien/Sullivan funeral home 41555 Grand River Ave in Novi on Monday May 5th from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday May 6th at Holy Family Catholic Church 24505 Meadowbrook Rd in Novi at 10:00 am with mass at 10:30 am. Memorial luncheon to follow mass at the church.
