Murray, James Arthur "Jim". Jim was born October 25, 1960 in Detroit, MI. Jim left this world March 21, 2018 after a short but courageous fight with cancer. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Ruth, father John Murray and brother in law Duncan Thompson. He is survived by his loving partner of 30 years Denice Smith, his twin brother John (Kris) Murray, his sister Katherine Thompson, two nieces Shana (Jen) Thompson, Karly (Brad) Willis, and one nephew Brian (Lindsey) Thompson.
Jim had a lifelong love for cars and motorcycles. He raced both in his younger years and was a member of Michigan Sport Touring Riders. He and Denice toured many times. He was especially proud of his "Iron Butt" awards.
Jim was an engineer, machinist, master mechanic, and a real life MacGyver. He ran his own prototype machine shop and car repair facility for several years.
At the time of his death, Jim was a Senior Engineer and Leader of the Robodrill group with Fanuc America Corporation. In many ways he was a mechanical genius. We all depended on his advice and expertise when we had anything that needed to be fixed or repaired.
Our world is a bit quieter as we learn to live without Jim. Rest in peace dear brother, uncle, partner and friend.
