James L. McInerney, age 84.

July 2, 2016.

He was born in Detroit on September 14, 1931, and graduated from University of Detroit High School in 1949, the University of Michigan in 1954, and the Detroit College of Law in 1977.

He began his business career at Detroit Bank & Trust Company in 1954, and moved to Ford Motor Company in 1959, where he held a variety of finance positions for 25 years.

He was a member of Essex Golf & Country Club in Windsor, Ontario from 1974 until 1995, when he moved to North Carolina.

He returned to Michigan in 2009, residing at Fox Run in Novi until his death.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Elizabeth (Bickel), whom he married on September 5, 1953.

He is also survived by his five children, Mark (Judi) McInerney, Cathleen (John) Thomas, Michael (Kim) McInerney, Anne McInerney and Terence (Barbara) McInerney, by his twelve grandchildren, Jenny, Meghan, Andrew, Kayley, Marin, Molly, Allison and Caroline McInerney, and Kevin (Erica), Betsy, Courtney and Sean Thomas, his great-granddaughter (Lily), His sister-in-laws Betty, and Inez, and five nieces.

Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary McInerney, and his brothers, Denny and Joseph.

Visitation at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi 248-348-1800, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 2:00pm -8:00pm.

Instate at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Road, Farmington on Thursday from 10:30am until time of funeral liturgy 11:00am.
