James Harry Matheney born October 1, 1954, in Detroit, MI, entered eternal rest on December 24, 2025, to be with his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. He lived a life rooted in faith, family and steadfast love.
Jim was devoted to the love of his life Karen. Their marriage of 49 years was a beautiful testament to devotion, faith, and enduring love. He cherished her with his whole heart.
Beloved husband of Karen, loving father of Jill Bazzy, Kendra (Joe) Schimizzi, Lisa (Angelo) Meyers and Daniel (Nicole) Matheney. Doting and proud grandfather of his 11 grandchildren: Anthony, Isabella, Alayna, Delilah, Mila, Joey, Letty, Andi, Isla, Teddy and Jane.
The loving brother of Gerald Provencal , Jack Provencal, Diane Robinson and Jeff Matheney. Preceded in death by his parents Harry and June Matheney and mother and father in-law Bob and Jeri Harding.
Jim's greatest accomplishment was his family. Nothing brought him more joy than his wife, children and their 11 beloved grandchildren, each of whom he cared for deeply. Above all, he found peace and purpose knowing that every one of them understood the love of Jesus Christ, a legacy of faith that will continue for generations.
Jim loved to golf with his buddies, bowling, camping and fishing. He was a skillful craftsman who left his mark on just about everything.
Jim was a hardworking and dedicated man, known for his integrity, ready to help anyone in need. Jim was a faithful member of Ward Church, where he raised his family to know Jesus. He practiced his faith daily through kindness, humility and service to others.
Visitation will be 2-7pm Sunday, December 28, 2025, at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home 41555 Grand River Ave Novi, MI 48375 (248) 348-1800. Funeral service 11 am Monday, December 29, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Parkinson's foundation
Jim will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, a man of strong faith, and a steady presence to all who knew him. His legacy lives on through his family, his faith, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
