James "Jim" E. Doran, age 86.
On August 27 James Edward Doran, born 9-21-25, joined his first wife Ann (nee Gibbons, dec. 1979) in heaven. Jim lived and worked his entire life in and around Detroit except for 3 years naval service in the Pacific during WWII. Known throughout the Detroit banking industry for his expertise in car dealership loans, Jim was interviewed by Arthur Hailey for his novel Wheels. Jim loved golf and was a member of Lakeland Golf and Country Club and a former member of Birmingham Country Club. He was a founder, participant and Green Jacket winner of the Buttons Charity Golf Tournament. In addition to many friends, those who will miss "Big Jim" dearly are his loving wife Gail, Jim's 6 children: Dick (Nancy), Tom (Barb), Colleen (Steve), Bill (Diane), Maureen, Kathleen (John). His 4 step children: Jeannie (Bob), Nancy (Mike), Michelle, Michail (Karyn). His 26 grandchildren and 4 great grand children. Jim was preceded in death by his stepson, Bill. Jim never met a stranger and will be loved always.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 30, from 3-9 pm at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi (248) 348-1800.
Visitation will continue on Friday from 10:00 am until time of funeral 11:00 am at the funeral home.
