Dr. Jahangir (Jahan) Mohtadi
October 10, 1930 – December 2, 2024
Dr. Jahangir Mohtadi, affectionately known as Jahan, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, in Novi, Michigan, at the age of 94. Born on October 10, 1930, in Tehran, Iran, Jahan lived a life defined by kindness, dedication, and a selfless commitment to others.
Jahan had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a deep appreciation for life's beauty. He enjoyed playing tennis and biking, planting flowers in his garden, immersing himself in world history, and reading the sacred writings of the Bahá'í Faith to deepen his spiritual understanding. His love for music enriched his life, and he found immense joy in spending time with his family.
Dr. Mohtadi earned a PhD in pharmacy and an MD in internal medicine, with a fellowship in oncology. After completing his internship and residencies at Michigan hospitals—including Hudsel Hospital, St. John's Hospital, Mount Carmel Hospital, and Henry Ford Hospital from 1961 to 1965—he established a private practice in Northville, Michigan. For 35 years, from 1964 until his retirement in 1999, he devoted his energy and expertise to the well-being of his patients. Known for his compassion and tireless dedication, he was one of the few doctors who made house calls to care for those unable to visit his office.
Among Jahangir's proudest moments were attending his son Nader's sports events and awards, and his daughter Negin's piano performances and accolades during their childhood.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jila, his son Nader, his daughter Negin, and his four cherished grandchildren: Bayan, Jian, Mia, and Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hassan Mohtadi and Forough Nurian, and his two brothers and three sisters.
Jahan's life was a testament to the values of patience, love, and selflessness. With an incredible amount of energy, he dedicated his life to the healing of others, the progress of his family, and the betterment of his community. Above all, he will be remembered as an extraordinary father and an unwavering source of love and guidance.
In honor of Dr. Mohtadi's memory, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association Research and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
His legacy of compassion and service will live on in the countless lives he touched.
