Jacqueline Russell's Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jacqueline "Jackie" Russell
Jacqueline "Jackie" Russell, age 88, peacefully passed away on May 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, after a sudden illness. Jackie was born in Lansing, Michigan to the late Harold and Josephine Dutcher.
Jackie graduated from Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan. She went on to attend Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Later in life, while working and parenting, she graduated from Madonna College (now University) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, James Russell. Jackie is survived by her children: Bruce (Sue) Russell, Marie (the late Vere) Wirwille and David (Karen Conroy) Russell. Grandmother to Bree (Alex), Owen (Samantha), the late Victoria, Lauren (Michael), Jim (Tammy), Caitlyn (Skyler) and Emily (RJ). Great Grandmother to Oliver, Amelia, Lincoln, and Juliet. She was a dear sister to the late Steven Dutcher.
Jackie was proud of her profession for over 67 years as a Registered Nurse. Over her career, she worked at numerous hospitals, including Mt. Carmel Hospital and Providence Hospital. In an administrative role, she helped open the Providence Emergency Room annex on 10 Mile and Haggerty Road in Novi. After retirement, she worked for an oncology office at Botsford General Hospital. At home, her kids were always aware that any cuts or bruises would be quickly tended to with plenty of betadine, butterfly tape and/or stitches in the bathroom.
For fun, Jackie and her husband Jim participated in line dancing for many years, as well as travelling to places around the world.
Jackie was also an avid craftsperson. She was a member of several sewing and quilting groups where she made many long-lasting friendships. She created beautiful works of art in the form of quilts for her children and grandchildren. She sewed and crocheted doll dresses for children in need as Christmas gifts for years. In addition, she made and handed out hand-made wallets, tea towels, ornaments and other items she created as gifts to people she interacted with, which often made their day.
