Irene Marie Kowalski
September 25, 1939 - December 29, 2022

Irene (Rene) Marie Kowalski, 83, of Novi, MI, peacefully passed away December 29, 2022 at Angela Hospice in Livonia, MI. Irene was the beloved wife of the late Michael (Mike). They were married for 62 blessed years. Together, they resided in Naples, FL for 23 years and also lived in Indianapolis, IN and Bradenton, FL. In their early years together, Mike affectionately nicknamed her Rene and it fondly became her name with close friends and some family.

Irene grew up in Detroit, MI and was the youngest daughter of Anthony and Laura. Over the years, she spent many vacations in northern Michigan with family. In later years, she and Mike traveled across the country on many business conference trips but she most enjoyed traveling back to Michigan to spend time with family and friends. She also became an avid football fan after years of enjoying watching the game with Mike. They cheered on the Detroit Lions, the Indianapolis Colts, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the University of Michigan Wolverines. Together, they also enjoyed IndyCar racing and had many wonderful memories of fun times at the Indianapolis 500.

Irene worked in the business office at St. Mary's Hospital in Michigan for more than 10 years. After moving to Florida, she volunteered her time to local charities. She was a terrific party planner and hostess, making everyone feel welcome and appreciated. She was patient and loving. Most of all, Irene loved and supported her family, celebrating special occasions, and appreciating every moment together.

Irene is survived by her daughters Debra (John) and Laurie (Matthew). She is the treasured grandma of Jennifer (Donald), Amanda (Bradley), Jack and Kate and cherished great grandma of Alice, Lucille and Eleanor. She is the sister of Cathy, Rose and the late Sister Mary Edward "Mary Ann."

A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Irene may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Angela Hospice.
