Hugh J. Morden (Lyon)
February 14, 1945 - January 12, 2025
Hugh J. Morden, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 12, 2025, at the age of 79. Born in Denver, Colorado, on February 14, 1945, to the late Mary Virginia (Siegfried) and Hugh Campbell Lyon Sr., Hugh lived a life full of love, humor, and service to his family and country.
Hugh was the cherished husband of Marla Barbour for 41 years and a proud father to Tina (Jeff) Gertsen, Terrie Neely, Hugh Morden II, William Morden, Jamie (T.J.) Lanning, Bryon Morden, Rayleen Mackenzie, and Robert Barbour. He was the doting grandfather to 27 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 15 great-grandchildren. Hugh was also deeply loved by his brother, Thomas Morden, and preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Richard Morden, and one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Hugh's life was marked by a devotion to family and a strong sense of humor. He was known as a social butterfly with a sharp wit, always ready with a sarcastic remark to bring laughter to those around him. He had a passion for old country music, playing cards, and cooking for his loved ones. Throughout his life, he wore many hats, working as a truck driver for several companies and as a supervisor at Ford Motor Company before retiring. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having enlisted at the young age of 17.
Above all, Hugh found his greatest joy in being surrounded by family, creating memories and sharing laughter in their company.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI, at 10:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 pm (Noon). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society,
