age 84, passed away at home in the loving care of her daughters. She was born in Cleveland on November 13, 1923 to Hungarian immigrants, Joseph and Judith Szasz. The youngest of six children, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers Julia Keller, Mary Lowe, Anna Bowen, Joseph Szasz and Daniel Szasz. She was married to Jack Valenti for 28 years until his death in 1971. Helen was employed by Crowley's Dept. Store at
the Livonia Mall for over 30 years and Penney's at Novi Twelve Oaks for 5 years, retiring at the age of 81. First and foremost, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen impacted the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by her three children, Connie (John) Daenzer of Ann Arbor, Diana (Craig) Bower of Chandler, AZ, and Linda Smith of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Kimberly Smith of Detroit, Shelley (Matt) Drager of Pickerington, OH, Mark Daenzer of Ypsilanti, Erica (Ivan) Messinger of Dolores, CO, Elena Dawes of Maricopa, AZ and Maria Dawes of Chandler, AZ; and four great-grandchildren, Natasha, Jack, Elise and Graham. Private burial will be on Saturday morning. Visitation with the family from 12:00 noon until 2:00, followed by a memorial service at O'Brien Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
