Helen Merle Douglas Cooper created a world of love in caring for family and friends for 94 years. Helen died peacefully of natural causes surrounded by her loving family. Born in Trenton, she later graduated from Southeastern HS in Detroit. Helen attended U of M, becoming the first Women's Editor of the Michigan Daily, serving on the Michigan Scholarship Board of the AAUW and becoming a life-long "Go Blue" fan. Helen worked at Detroit Edison, where a blind date led to a 67-year marriage with Robert William Cooper. For 20 years she was a caring part of Children's Hospital, as a chaplain's assistant, volunteer, Director of Volunteers, and President of the Women's Auxiliary. Beloved mother of Rob, Doug, Kent (deceased), Betsy and their spouses, and loving grandmother of seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Helen's body has been donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. Donations in Memoriam to Children's Hospital of Michigan.
