Gloria Dawn
Fishell
Nov 25, 1942 — Jun 24, 2026
Gloria Dawn Fishell, 83, of Farmington, Michigan, entered peacefully into the presence of our Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 24, 2026, after a courageous journey with dementia.
Born in Lodi, California, on November 25, 1942, to Albert Lee Parker and Helen Cattoor, Gloria was a woman of strength, resilience, and determination. Following the end of her first marriage, Gloria worked full-time while attending Duff’s Business Institute, courageously raising Christina, Donna, and Tony as a single mother. Years later, she married William Fishell, and together they welcomed their son, Donald, completing their family.
Gloria worked at EquiBank for several years before owning and operating a daycare. She loved children and found joy in caring for them, enjoying the opportunity to watch them learn and grow over the years.
She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. Gloria loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed playing Yahtzee, Rummikub, and cards with family and friends. She treasured the friendships she made through Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church and appreciated the fellowship she found there. Known for her quick wit and playful sense of humor, Gloria often smiled and said, “I’m just staying out of trouble… dang it!” It was a phrase that perfectly captured her personality and continues to bring a smile to those who knew and loved her.
Gloria is lovingly survived by her children, Christina Christiansen; Donna (Donald) Orr; Joseph “Tony” Marino (Linda); and Donald (Melanie) Fishell. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jaimye (Adam) Platt, Kenneth Christiansen, Michael (Holly) Marino, Michael Orr, Lillian and Preston Fishell; her step-grandchildren, Matthew (Heidi) Skeens and Mark Skeens; her beloved great-grandchildren, Olivia, Christian and Anna Platt, Wells and Monroe Marino; her step-great-grandchildren, Abigail, Lydia and Hannah Skeens; and her brothers, Donald (Judy) Parker and William (Kathy) Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Lee Parker and Helen (Cattoor) Parker; her husband, William Fishell; and her siblings, Carol Rogers, Adelle Blair, Betty Robinson, and Richard “Dickie” Parker.
Gloria will be remembered for her perseverance, independent spirit, strong work ethic, wonderful sense of humor and beautiful smile. She met life’s challenges with determination, found joy in caring for children, loved animals, especially her dogs, and treasured time spent with family and friends. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now whole again, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and forever in the presence of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church, 7925 Horse Mill Rd, Grosse Ile Township, MI 48138.
