Ghassan Bachuwa, MD, MS, MHSA, FACP, AGSF

Ghassan Bachuwa, a beloved physician, husband, and father, sadly passed away on July 19, 2023 at the age of 73. He was born in Iraq in the year of 1950 and brought his young family to the United States for a better life.

He continued his career in the medical field at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan for nearly 40 years. In addition to seeing and caring for his patients, Dr. Bachuwa was the Director of the Geriatrics Consultative Service, Internal Medicine and Transitional Year Program Director, and Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University-College of Human Medicine. His strong passion for medical research coincided with the mentoring of many young doctors.

Whenever he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with his family and pets, traveling, and running marathons with his daughter.

A loving father and husband, he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Firyal Bachuwa, his 2 daughters, Rima and Zina Bachuwa, and his only son, Alexander Bachuwa.

The family will be having visitation on Friday, July 28th, 2023 beginning at 9:00 am, lasting until the Celebration of Life at 10:00 am located at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, MI 48439.
