It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Ndu Ibe, who was called home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2026, in Northville, Michigan, after battling a prolonged illness with courage and strength. He was 43 years old and surrounded by the love and prayers of his family and friends as he entered into eternal rest.
George lived a life rooted in faith and defined by duty, loyalty, kindness, integrity, and compassion. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. Hardworking, humble, dependable, patient, witty, and steady in spirit, George possessed a quiet strength and genuine warmth that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
George is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Harjot Ibe; his beloved children, Luke, Maya & Levi; his parents, Henry Ibe and Patricia Ibe; his siblings and a host of cherished relatives, lifelong friends, colleagues, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing him.
George was born on March 23, 1983, in Lagos, Nigeria. He attended St. Catherine Primary School and later graduated from King's College, Lagos. He then immigrated to the United States, where he earned an Associate of Science degree from Wayne County Community College before completing both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
As a young man, George dreamed of playing in the NBA, but he built a distinguished career serving patients through Rite Aid Pharmacy and Henry Ford Providence Hospital, where he was deeply respected by colleagues, patients, and the community for his professionalism, compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Outside of work, George found joy in tackling DIY home improvement projects, watching movies, anime, and sports; spending quality time with family, and preparing his famous Thanksgiving turkey. He approached life's challenges with courage, perseverance, steadfastness, and grace, always placing his faith in God. George was the steady anchor of our family. He was the person you called when you needed a calm voice, a straight answer, or a brilliant, unexpected joke that could clear the tension in any room. He treasured every opportunity to create lasting memories with the people he loved.
While he accomplished much throughout his life, his greatest blessings were his marriage to the love of his life, Harjot, the gift of raising their three amazing children, and the support of his siblings. George was a devout parishioner of St. James Catholic Church, where he served as a lector. He used his actions to share and teach his love of God and his faith with his children. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his family and friends flourish, celebrating their successes and happiness as if they were his own.
We grieve the loss of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, but we do not grieve without hope. Though George is no longer with us, the legacy he leaves behind—one of faith, love, humility, duty, loyalty, integrity, and unwavering character—will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. We find comfort in God's promise that those who believe in Him shall have eternal life, and we trust that George now rests peacefully in the loving presence of the Lord.
Flower donations can be made by directly calling The Flower Alley at (248) 305-9190 or memorial donations made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or to St. James Catholic Church in George's honor are welcomed.
