Gary Williams, aka KOG "King of Golf", formerly of Dearborn, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at his favorite place; his summer home in Gaylord, Michigan, just one week after his 53rd birthday, and one day after enjoying his final round of golf with his lifelong friends. Gary was a stand-out football player at Dearborn High School, (class of 1980), and an alumnus of Arizona State University, who returned to Michigan upon graduation from college, to begin building a career in the automotive industry, and to raise his son, Steven Williams, with Steven's mother, Tracy Gary, who followed Gary to Michigan to continue her career as a traffic helicopter and TV weather reporter.
Gary also leaves behind his beloved mother, Selma Williams, brother Michael Williams, sisters Karen Busemann and Carla O'Neill, their spouses and significant others, adoring nieces and nephews Shannon O'Neill, Lauren and Bryan Busemann, and Mickaela and Logan Williams.
Gary was predeceased by his father, Charles (Chuck) Williams. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles. cousins, and too many friends to list, as well as his co-workers at Argent Automotive in Novi.
Gary was loved by all of us because he always had a smile and a joke to make us smile or laugh, regardless of the gravity of the situation. We miss him so much already and will keep him in our hearts and minds always. We hope to keep alive his annual golf tournament in July in northern Michigan that has become a time-honored tradition.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31st, followed by a service beginning at 3:00 p.m.
