Frederick Charles "Chuck" Hunter, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on October 16, 2024, at the age of 94. He was born on March 20, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan to Dorothy and Frederick P. Hunter.
Chuck graduated from Cooley High School, Detroit in 1948. He earned his Bachelor's degree from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, a testament to his commitment to education and personal growth. After college, Chuck was drafted as a medical inventory specialist for the Army, distributing supplies for new recruits. It was during this time that a recruit promised Chuck he would not be drafted for the Korean War if Chuck would give him additional supplies for children in need. Chuck agreed, and instead of going to Korea, he was sent to Germany. A relative living in Michigan died shortly after Chuck arrived. While wiring a condolence message to Michigan, he met his wife, Barbara, who was the switchboard operator. Chuck continued to visit Barbara at work, and she eventually started bringing traditional German foods to share with him on her lunch break. The two would go on to spend 70 wonderful years of marriage together.
Once he returned to the states, Chuck dedicated 35 years to the Coca-Cola Company as an operations manager. He was also a volunteer at the Michigan Humane Society, where he found joy in caring for animals as a dog-walker.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Hunter. He is the proud father to his children, Heidi (Ole) and Roger (Carmina). He is the grandfather to Hannah Hauch, Ben Hauch, Jessica McAdoo, Chris (Morgan) Underwood, and Eric Hunter. He is the great-grandfather to Remi McAdoo.
