Frances Arlene Loynes, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at the age of 96. She was the cherished wife of the late Sumner Gow and the late Frederick Loynes, and the loving mother of Eric (Diane) Gow, Leighton Gow, Frances (James) Profitt, Ruth Lewicki, and the late Barry Gow. She was also a dear stepmother to Tom Gow.
Born on June 7, 1928, in Fayette, Ohio, Frances was the daughter of the late Edna Ruth (Dickson) and Alfred B. Sheffield. She was a dear sister to Leighton Sheffield and the late David Sheffield. Frances was proud of her large and growing family, leaving behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A dedicated and hard-working woman, Frances was known for her role as the Director of Finance for the city of Novi for many years. She was a passionate and accomplished individual, with a deep love of learning and life. At the age of 50, she pursued her dream and went to college, proving her lifelong commitment to personal growth and education.
Frances was an avid reader with a love for travel and enjoyed the challenges of Jeopardy. She was also a gifted artist, enjoying arts and crafts, painting, and drawing. Her hands were often busy with knitting and crocheting, creating beautiful works of art for her family and friends.
For the past 18 months, Frances had been a resident of Randall Residence at Encore Village in Brighton, where she was surrounded by caring friends and staff. Her kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave., Novi, MI. A service will follow at 5:00 pm. Interment will take place at Rural Hill Cemetery.

Frances leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and inspiration, and she will be remembered with deep affection by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
