Eunice Mae McLellan July 1, 1930 – September 5, 2026

Eunice Mae McLellan, age 96, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, at Livonia Comfort Care Center. She was a woman of deep faith, unwavering devotion to her family, and a lifetime of quiet service to those she loved.

Eunice was born on July 1, 1930, to Walter and Oriale Meyers. She graduated from Cooley High School in 1948 and, on June 10, 1949, married the love of her life, Keith McLellan. Together, Eunice and Keith shared 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2015.

Raised in the church, Eunice's faith was an important part of who she was throughout her entire life. She and Keith were founding members of Dunning Park Chapel in Redford, Michigan, where they built a life rooted in faith and community. Eunice faithfully attended the chapel until the pandemic. She also devoted many years to serving as the leader of the Pioneer Girls program, encouraging and guiding young girls and young women in their faith and helping them grow into confident, caring individuals.

Family was Eunice's greatest source of pride and joy. She devoted herself to raising her children and caring for her family, first as a loving stay-at-home mother and later, after her children were through elementary school, working as a secretary for Kelly Services. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was never found in a job title—it was found in the family she nurtured and the love she gave so freely.

Eunice was a devoted wife, especially during the difficult years following Keith's stroke, when he spent eight years in a nursing home. She remained steadfastly dedicated to him, visiting and caring for him with the same love and commitment that had defined their marriage from the beginning.

In her later years, Eunice continued to keep her mind active and her curiosity alive. She was an avid reader well into her 90s and especially enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches. She could often be found watching Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy!, happily putting her knowledge to the test.

Eunice will be deeply missed by her sons, David (Andrea) McLellan and Daniel (Vicki) McLellan; her grandchildren, Kelly (Jeremiah) Deckard, Scott (Atara) McLellan, Jason (Kat) Trzos, Nicholas Trzos, Jennifer (Marcus) Ladouceur, and Brian McLellan; her great-grandchildren, Jeremiah (Aubrey) Deckard II, Jacklyn (Timothy) Sopher, Makayla (Drew) Polcari, Jacob McLellan, and Emma Ladouceur and Anthony Laouceur ; and her great-great-grandchildren, Noah Polcari and Jeremiah Deckard III.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Keith McLellan; her daughter, Debi McLellan; her parents, Walter and Oriale Meyers; her brother, Ronald Meyers; and her infant great-grandson, Johnathan Ladouceur.

Eunice leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, perseverance, and love. She spent her life caring for others, giving of herself without hesitation, and taking great pride in the family she and Keith built together. Her presence will continue to live on in the children, grandchildren, and generations who were blessed to know her and carry her love forward.

A Memorial Service will be held at Gesu Catholic Church 17180 Oak Dr. Detroit, Mi 48221 on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The time of service is forthcoming.
