Ellen Genevieve (Sullivan) Folk, age 96, of Novi, MI, died peacefully on October, 15, 2024 after living a long, full life.
Ellen was born to Matthew Cornelius and Ruth (Galarno) Sullivan on June 4, 1928, in Bay City, MI. Her family moved to Detroit, MI where she met some life-long friends. She attended St. Theresa High School and eventually studied Nursing at University of Detroit Mercy. Her nursing career spanned over 43 years. She was a true inspiration and touched many lives as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
Ellen met her hero and the love of her life, Lorin Craig Folk while traveling on a train to Canada for a ski vacation. They married on November 7, 1959 in Detroit and were excited to start a family.
Their faith in God, love of the water, and passion for the outdoors was passed on to their children. In retirement, Craig and Ellen enjoyed winters in Arizona, along with traveling the world, playing cards, sailing, and of course, "jazz band dancing". Most of all, they were proud of their large family and cherished spending time with family, (especially their grandchildren), and friends.
Ellen was preceded in death by her loving spouse, Craig, and their cherished grandson, Paul.
She is survived by her children, Gerard (Judy), Patrick (Nancy), Tim (Gnann), Judy Gustitus (Michael), Martin (Deborah), Peter (Catherine), and Ellen Deleruyelle (Richard). She is also survived by her brother, James (Mary Ann) Sullivan. Her legacy continues in her grandchildren Lorin C Folk II (Ashley), Daniel, Katherine (Robert), Patrick, Bridget, Carolyn (James), Carmen (Danny), Emma, Christopher (Christina), Joshua (Bridget), David (Priscilla), Timothy, Lauren (Jason), Matthew (Erin), Thomas, Maryellen, Julianna, Andrew (Berkeley), Nathan, and Jack.
