Edward Vedro
August 16, 1939 - November 1, 2025

Edward Vedro was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 16, 1939. He was the son of the late John and Theodora Vedro, beloved husband to the late Dolores Vedro, father of Kathleen Forhan (Jeff), Shari Vedro Knox (Randy), Michael Vedro, Robert Vedro (Colleen) and Papa to Kayleigh, Jenna, Eleanor, and John. Adopted Papa to Laura and Haley. Ed was also a brother to late Louis (Janet), and the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Ed was born in Detroit and after graduating high school in 1957, he joined the Army where he won awards for his sharp-shooting skills. While stationed at the Rouge River army base in Detroit, he met the love of his life, Dolores, and they married in 1960. They were married for 61 years until her death in 2022. Ed worked as a grocery store manager until joining the Heat and Frost Insulation Trade Union, Local 25, out of Detroit, where he worked until his retirement.

Ed loved being outside and golfing was one of his favorite activities. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good "Dad" joke. Ed loved being active and took a job as a golf ranger after retirement so he could be outside and practice his "Dad" jokes on everyone he encountered. He loved learning new things and recently taught himself Italian, German, and was working on Polish. He traveled to Italy and recently toured Europe on a river boat. He loved cooking and trying new recipes, and a good murder mystery book could always be found sitting on his end table.

He loved his family and spending time with them. Each and every one of his grandkids had him wrapped around their fingers. He was kind to everyone he met and could strike up a conversation with anybody. Ed would help anyone in need at any time. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at St. James Catholic Church from 10:00 am until the Funeral Mass begins at 10:30 am. There will be a livestream of the service available when the Mass begins, Click Here to view the livestream.
