Doug grew up in Detroit, Michigan where he attended Henry Ford High School. In his senior year, Linda took the initiative to ask him on their first date to a hayride. This began their love story. Shortly after that Doug decided to attend the University of Michigan, where he majored in Economics. He was also a member of the rugby team and belonged to the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. Doug married his high school sweetheart, Linda, after graduation in the summer of 1969. Shortly after, they decided to live in a small flat in Detroit where they welcomed their first child, Jeff. While in Detroit, he received his Juris Doctor from Wayne State Law School. This began his 54 years of working as an insurance defense trial lawyer. As their family was growing, they purchased their first home in Livonia where they welcomed their daughter, Jodi. Doug and Linda built their forever home in Northville where they raised their family and made many wonderful friends throughout the years.
Doug loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who called him Papa. He loved nothing more than being their biggest fan in the stands at their school and sporting events. However, his most cherished memories with his family were vacations at Disney World. He also spent many years as a season ticket holder for both U of M football and Detroit Red Wings hockey. Since retirement he spent quality time with family and friends at their cottage on Lake Chemung enjoying the simplicity of life.
