Obituary

Doris Jean (Baatz) McQuillan, Age 91, dearly loved aunt and friend, and wife of the late Richard Leo McQuillan.

"Mrs. McQuillan" touched thousands of lives as a dedicated teacher for over thirty years, sharing her love of math at St. Mary of Redford and Bishop Borgess High Schools. After retiring from the Archdioceses of Detroit, Doris lovingly took care of two little girls through school age, worked in property management in Novi, and was a compassionate volunteer for NODA.

Doris was born and raised in Detroit, and attended St. Mary of Redford, where she met and married her childhood sweetheart, after spending time in the convent to study with the Felician sisters. She later moved to Brighton and Novi, and then enjoyed many years with friends at Baptist Manor in Farmington.

Doris loved reading, crocheting, and making and sending personalized cards to friends and family. Doris was known for her love of fun, and her collection of all things sunflower, including everything from sunflower pinstriping on her car, and then walker, and even a sunflower tattoo.

Doris enjoyed sharing stories of her days of drag racing, Chris-Craft boating and motorcycle riding.

Our Aunt Doris, Auntie Dee as she liked to be called, will be forever loved and missed and her stories will live on forever.

Survived by Carol Sullivan (Joseph) Sanctorum, Janet Sullivan (Guy) VanMaldeghem, and Maureen Sullivan (Philip) Terranova and their families. A private service was held for family, followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
