Donald George Stacy
April 8, 1926 - July 13, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald George Stacy, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on July 13, 2024, at the age of 98. Born on April 8, 1926, Don lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Don was the devoted husband of Beverly and the late Mary Jane. He was a dear father to Tom G. (Susan) Stacy and Martha Ann Stacy (Robert Kaiser), and a loving stepfather to Rod (Cindy) Gronlund and Tia Gronlund Fox. He was a proud grandfather to Colin Dayton Stacy and a step-grandfather to Lynda, Jason, Joshua, Blake, and Rachel. Don was also the brother of the late Vera Schaal and the uncle of Margaret Schaal.
A patriotic American, Don served his country with honor in the U.S Army overseas in the 736th FA Battalion during WWII and the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, Don embarked on a successful career at Ford as a Body Product Automotive Designer, retiring after many dedicated years of service.
Don had a passion for life that was evident in everything he did. Don served as a Deacon in the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth for many years and was active at Orchard United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, ping pong, badminton and cherished moments spent with his family. He was known for his love of a good hamburger, always followed by his favorite treat, Moose tracks ice cream.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Orchard United Methodist Church 30450 Farmington Road Farmington Hills, MI. Wednesday July 24, 2024 from 10:00am until the celebration of Don's life at 11:00am. Military honors will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Orchard United Methodist Church in Don's memory. www.orchardumc.org
Don will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His warmth, generosity, and spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
