Donald Harris, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away on October 21, 2026, age 89. Don was born on November 19,1936 to Joseph “Garfield” and Clarice Harris and grew up in Detroit, Michigan where he met his cherished wife of 64 years, Dagny (Holgerson).

Don and Dagny were inseparable, sharing similar passions including traveling the world, music, theater, and the Michigan Wolverines. But spending time with family and the many friends they met over the years was their favorite love.

Don was a dedicated father, raising his children with love, support, and fatherly advice. He leaves behind his children, Doug Harris (Deb Peery), Denise Harris, and Lisa (Craig) Tayler.

Don enjoyed his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his grandchildren, Katherine Peery (Tony Osborn), Sam Harris (Lydia Lanni), Rachel Yarbrough (Brian Scherf), and Andrew Yarbrough, as well as his great-grandchildren, Olivia and Penelope Scherf and Oscar and Rocco Harris.

Don was known for his sense of humor and the twinkle in his baby blue eyes. He was a sports enthusiast, enjoying hiking and playing golf, and watching ANYTHING sports-related on TV. His Cornish heritage was important to him, from traveling and attending festivals to enjoying traditional Cornish food. Don obtained a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Michigan and served as a business administrator in the Detroit area before retiring in 1997.

Don’s legacy lives on in the hearts that he touched. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever remain with us.
