Donald James Finney Sr.

Donald J. Finney Sr. passed away peacefully at Ascension Providence Hospital on Jan. 16, 2020 in Novi, Mich. He was born on Sept. 8, 1953 to Frank and Rose Ann Finney (Balkenbush) in St. Louis, Mo.

Don was the beloved husband of Barbara (Lupone) and loving father to Don Jr. (Lisa), Angie (David), Keith (Shaun), Scott (Trisha) and Emily. He cherished his 10 grandchildren and beloved rescue pup Gracie.

Don is survived by siblings Judy, Mary Morgan (the late Frank), Michael (Mona), Kay Kennington (the late Michael) and Mary Olander (John). He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Don retired from General Motors after 33 years, and found his second career passion at Bay Logistics, where he worked for over 10 years.

A licensed private airplane pilot, Don loved flying, playing cards and games of chance, golfing, and lending his time and talent to anyone in need. Most of all, Don treasured spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-8 p.m. with scripture service at 7 p.m. at O'Brien Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave. in Novi. Instate will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. with funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 24505 Meadowbrook Road in Novi.
