Dennis Ireland 

August 9, 1940 – October 3, 2026

Dennis Ireland, of Novi, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born on August 9, 1940, and graduated from Northville High School.

Dennis was the beloved husband of Martha, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. He was a loving father to Laura (David) Kehler, Lisa (Evan) Whitford, and Lawrence (Misty) Ireland. Dennis was also a dear grandfather to Katherine, Kyle, and Mason.

Dennis dedicated his life to the fire service, beginning his involvement at the age of 18. His commitment to serving others continued throughout his life, including 20 years with the Novi Fire Department and 20 years with the Northville Fire Department, where he ultimately retired. He was also a longtime member of the Michigan State Fireman’s Association and served as President of the organization. 

Among Dennis’s proudest accomplishments was serving as President of the Michigan State Fireman’s Association and receiving an award from the Governor in recognition of his service. His dedication to the fire service was an important part of who he was and remained a source of great pride throughout his life.

Outside of his work and fire service involvement, Dennis enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and anything related to firefighting. He also enjoyed his time at Moose Ridge Golf Club.

Dennis was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce. He will be remembered with love by his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held at O’Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi, Michigan, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service begins at 11:00 a.m.

Dennis will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Martha at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, Michigan.
