David J. Westhoff of Northville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 1, 2021, at the age of 79. David was born in Jackson, Michigan on February 26, 1942, to Walter and Dorothy Westhoff. David had two younger brothers Robert and Richard. Upon graduation from Western Michigan University, David advanced at what was then Detroit Bank and Trust to Senior Vice President of Comerica Bank. David married his long-time sweetheart Ruth Kalahar on May 8, 1965 and was a beloved husband for 56 years. David and Ruth adopted two children Brian (Jeanette) and Kathleen. David was a caring grandfather to Jacob, Justin, Joshua, Nicole, Abigail, Frederick, and David. He was also very close to many dear nieces and nephews. He was adored by his family and enjoyed the time spent with them, as well as many friends. He loved playing golf on several leagues and also was in many euchre and poker clubs. Family members and friends have expressed their love of Dave's natural wit, how they enjoyed his company and the way he lit up a room. Dave and Ruth loved to travel, making their way to Hawaii, Mexico and Florida as some of their favorite destinations. Dave was a strong, loving, and supportive husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 4:00-8:00pm at O'Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home, at 41555 Grand River Ave, in Novi, MI. A prayer vigil will be held on Friday December 10, 2021, at 7:00 PM. Church visitation will be held at 10:00am, preceding 10:30am mass on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at St. James Catholic Church at 46325 W 10 Mile Rd, in Novi, MI.
