David McGregor Waddell
April 25, 1927-June 28, 2025
David McGregor Waddell, a proud Navy veteran and Michigan State University Alum and Spartan fan, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of 98.
Born on April 25, 1927, David was the only child of Clarence (nickname Rube) and Nell Waddell, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorraine, with whom he shared 57 years.
David is survived by his loving children: Carol, Nancy (Chris), and David (Connie). He was a cherished grandfather of eight: Steven, Matthew, Karen, James, David, Laura, Linda, and Greg. David was also excited to have eighteen great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law, Margaret.
Over the course of his career, David worked as a manufacturer's representative, system designer, and entrepreneur, for plumbing, heating and vibration isolation equipment. With David's gift of gab and friendly nature, he built many lasting relationships through his work.
David lived in Northville and enjoyed walking the neighborhood to visit with his neighbors. He always had a story to tell. Torch Lake in northern Michigan was one of his favorite places. There he enjoyed golf, boating and driving his golf cart around the neighborhood. He loved the peaceful outdoors "Up North".
In the past six years, David lived at Halsted Place in Farmington Hills where he made many friends. He could frequently be seen making the rounds on his electric wheelchair.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at 10:15 am on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 34567 Seven Mile Road in Livonia, Michigan 48152 with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 11:00am. A luncheon will follow the service.
