David Michael Thomas of Livonia, Michigan, a gentle man with a big laugh who was known by his older sisters as "Bunny," and assorted nieces and nephews as "Uncle Wavo," passed away suddenly July 11, 2019.
David was born December 22, 1967, into a rollicking Lebanese-American household -- he was the youngest of seven children.
He graduated from Livonia's Stevenson High School with the class of 1986. After his graduation, David relocated to Indianapolis and later spent many years in Atlanta, where he helped take care of his young niece and nephew, who fondly remember their "fun babysitter."
David took pride in hard work, and was employed at the same Atlanta Kroger for a decade. During his time in Georgia, David fell in love with his late wife Rhonda, who preceded him in death.
David later moved to Southern California, where he worked for carpet cleaning company Stanley Steemer, before returning to his Michigan home to help take care of his mother, Geanne Thomas, and assist his older brother, Mike Thomas, with his landscaping business.
David was preceded in death by his father, Michael Thomas, who he lost to cancer at age 14, and his mother, Geanne, who passed away in 2016.
David's life wasn't easy, but he nevertheless remained a loving, light-hearted person with an easy smile -- an avid Detroit Tigers fan and a man who could perform a dynamite karaoke rendition of Helen Reddy's "I Am Woman."
He is survived by his six older siblings: Michelle, Deborah, Mabyn, Mike, Martine and John Thomas, his ten nieces and nephews -- all of whom are thankful to carry wonderful memories of their Uncle David -- countless cousins and friends across the country. His siblings will miss the "baby" of their family for the rest of their lives, but take comfort knowing their beloved brother is now at peace, and finally reunited with his mother, father, and wife.
Burial will be Saturday, July 20 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, immediate family only. Private Memorial service will be Sunday, July 21.
