Obituary

David R. Gonzalez passed away on July 30, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Detroit on March 8, 1961. David was progressing well after his bypass surgery in April, and later passed away from cardiac complications. A lover of muscle cars, David enjoyed attending car shows, and the Woodward Dream Cruise. He loved sports and enjoyed time attending hockey, football and baseball games.

David will be most remembered for his care and concern for others. He was the “rock” to lean on for his family and for so many people. Always available to help any person at anytime. His sense of humor was infectious, his story telling always entertaining. He was THE Favorite Uncle to all his nieces and nephews. He was always in contact with them, staying in touch was one of his many gifts. He will be missed for the every day little things, the smile, the hello, daily calls to check on someone, it’s those little things that made David so special to others.

A proud graduate of Lawrence Technological University, and Walsh College, David worked as a Financial Director for CACI. He enjoyed his work and time with colleagues, who were more like family to him.

David was the son of Reyes C Gonzalez Sr. (Jacqueline) and the late Gloria Gonzalez. In addition to his father he is survived by his siblings, Christina Mrock, Margaret Gonzalez Sheeran (Michael) and Ben Gonzalez (Nadia). He was predeceased by his brother Reyes Jr. David is survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Julie Lafrinere (John), Emily Sheeran (Thayer Morton), Robert Mrock, Craig Mrock (Terra). Also, his great niece and nephews, Alan, Gabriel, Mina, Thomas and Wesley.
