Obituary

One of Michigan's best known eminent domain and land use attorneys, died Saturday June 28, 2008, in his Novi home. He was 60. He was a longtime shareholder of the Butzel Long law firm and more recently founded Berry, Reynolds & Rogowski PC in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America. He was a dedicated family man who coached boys' and girls' baseball and soccer, and was a Birmingham Seaholm High School Parent Booster for football, basketball, lacrosse and swimming. He also served on the Board of Directors of Crossroads for Youth, a non-profit organization in Oxford devoted to assisting at-risk children. Dave was born and raised in Lansing, where he became a life-long Spartan, despite sending two kids to the University of Michigan. He graduated from Albion College and the University of Detroit Law School. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Janie, his Mother Margaret, his son Jake and daughter-in-law Jessica, his son Ben, his daughter Marney, and his grandson Will. Visitation will be Wednesday July 2 from 5-8 p.m. at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue in Novi (248) 348-1800. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3 at the Northville First United Methodist Church, located at 777 W. Eight Mile Road.
