Charles A. Zavorskas, 90, of Northville, MI, was lifted up to the Lord, peacefully, on June 11, 2012 with family and friends by his side. Charles was born and raised in New Haven, CT, and is the son of Vincent and Elizabeth Zavorskas. He was predeceased by five brothers (Vincent Jr., Simon, Al, Frank and Peter) and two sisters (Elizabeth Giovann and Mary Demmons). He was also a cherished uncle to sixteen nieces and nephews.Charles had a distinguished career in the U.S. Army, with several assignments around the globe, including China. All of his brothers served in the military during the WWII era. After military service, Charles was employed by the A.F. Holden Co. (specialty chemical manufacturer) as a Project Engineer at their New Haven, CT facility. He later transferred to Holden's Milford, MI, headquarter location, eventually becoming General Manager until his retirement.While in New Haven, Charles was active in local politics, presiding as a Ward Chairman during many mayoral campaigns for Richard Lee and Bart Guida. He was also a passionate and competitive golfer, winning club championships at Wallingford C.C. and playing many of the more famous golf courses in the U.S. He was a member at Travis Point C.C., in MI, for many years.An active communicant of Our Lady of Victory in Northville, MI, Charles will be sorely missed by parishioners. At his request, burial will take place at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in New Haven, CT, alongside his parents and sister, Mary Demmons. A service of Christian burial and a celebration of Charles' life will be conducted at that time.
