Obituary

December 4, 1921 – January 6, 2025
Age 103
Charles Frank Oddo, a devoted family man and proud Navy Veteran, passed away peacefully at the age of 103. Born on December 4, 1921, in Detroit, MI, Charles lived a life marked by dedication, love, and hard work.

Before enlisting in the Navy during WWII, Charles contributed to the war effort as a welder, working on the first bomber plane to leave Willow Run Airport. His service in the Navy was a source of great pride, reflecting his deep sense of duty and commitment to his country.

It was during high school that Charles met Anna, the love of his life. Shortly after graduating, they married, beginning a love story that spanned nearly 80 years until Anna's passing. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their family in the Farmington/Farmington Hills area.

Charles was the owner of a successful underground construction company, where his work ethic and leadership left a lasting impact. After selling his company, he and Anna retired to Florida, enjoying 16 years of sunshine before returning to Michigan for a second retirement. Even in retirement, Charles couldn't stay away from work, taking on roles as a superintendent for other underground construction companies.

Known for his relentless work ethic, Charles was a bit of a workaholic, always busy with a project, whether at work or around the house. His skills as a handyman were renowned among friends, neighbors, and family. Yet, despite his busy nature, Charles always made time for his family, who were the center of his life. He was a proud father, a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his work, Charles had a passion for sports, especially the Detroit teams, and enjoyed golfing and bowling. In his later years, he found comfort in watching cowboy movies and old westerns like "Gunsmoke."

Charles was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Frances, his beloved wife Anna, and his brother Albert. He is survived by his children, Fran (Roger), Frank (Rose), and Kim(Norma); his grandchildren, Suzette and Ryan; his great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Dylan, Gino and Gianni. Charles also leaves behind many friends from the construction industry and a host of professional caregivers who supported him in his later years.
